World’s Longest Bridge Opens in 2019

Humen bridge has been one of the most congested areas in Dongguan since opening. To alleviate this, a second bridge is to be built by 2019 that will stretch over the Pearl River Delta and connect Dongguan to Panyu. In April, the roof of the 260-meter-high main tower in the 1,688-meter span was sealed, as well as four other towers. Humen’s second bridge will have two spans: a 1,688-meter one in the east and the other 1,200-meter one in the west. When it is completed, it will become the longest double span suspension bridge in the world. The distance between Dongguan and Nansha is estimated to be shortened by 10 kilometers.
