Making the Map Better

Making the Map Better

Drivers in Dongguan will get more accurate map and transportation information from now on. On April 17, a cooperation agreement was signed between AutoNavi Maps (also known as Gaode Maps) and Dongguan Traffic Police. They will exchange data to create a traffic information public service platform and provide more detailed and correct information to users. “Which road is congested, which area has construction, all this information can be accessible,” said the head officer Ye Bolun. For example, the map will pop up a notice reminding the school time if you are near school areas, or temporary traffic control due to a public event or concert. They will also work together to release holiday traffic forecasts to help travelers in choosing the best route. Although Apple Maps uses map data from AutoNavi for Mainland China, it doesn’t have all the updated information from the AutoNavi application. If your Chinese is good enough or you know the area well, you will still find the Chinese AutoNavi app very useful.
