Oktoberfest, the Bavarian cultural event that has centered around a beer drinking bonanza in Munich, Germany since 1810, has spread around the world, and Dongguan is no exception. In its sixth consecutive year, and as usual, partnering with Pizzeria Calzone, Hollywood Baby Too, prompted by its German management and ownership team, will host the festival on the evenings of October 9 and 10. Besides the traditional Bavarian food and plenty of beer, there will be Oktoberfest games such as tug-o-war, log sawing and drinking competitions in the evening, followed by live rock band performances at 10 p.m.
Another option to feel the authentic Oktoberfest culture will be the German establishment Martin’s Bakery. For the second year, it will bring Bavarian band Münchener Musikanten to liven up the nights. The band has been playing original German music at China’s Oktoberfests for years, becoming sought after Bavarian folk musicians. The event is held from October 14 through 17 every night.
And this year finally, the bi-annual Guangdong International Beer Festival is back. Kicking off on September 28 in the Changping Railway Park and continuing through October 7, over 70 brands of beer from Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic and other countries will join the festival. There will be five beer tents themed with Zhujiang Beer, Tsingtao Beer, Budweiser Beer, German beer and world beer, together with plenty of drinking games, a food street and live performances.
