The NCA, or National Copyright Administration (Yes, we checked. It’s real.), announced last month that online music streaming services will no longer be allowed to provide unlicensed music starting in August.  NCA representative Duan Yuping told CCTV that “[Music streaming providers] infringed the rights of royalty holders, disturbed the order of the online music market, and also impacted the development of our music industry.” According to the article, authorities are developing legal options for downloading music in the coming months. The change comes at the end of a long running fight between the country’s producers and streaming sites.
