05_15_Scene_Family Retraces StepsSeven years ago, an orphan from Dongguan who had been dumped at birth was adopted by an American couple, and recently, the family brought their adopted son to visit his hometown. Liang Xuji, the policeman who handled the case met the family in the Wanjiang Police Station and introduced to them Chen Wangdi, the social worker who had reportedly found the new born.

Chen told the couple, Eliot and Francisco, that she found the baby boy in a plastic bag with his umbilical cord still attached. He had been left at the waste center opposite the Dongfang construction material city in Wanjiang’s Bajiaowo Village in February of 2007. She placed a report to police immediately, and Officer Liang informed the hospital who sent an ambulance. After treatment, the baby boy was sent to Dongguan Children’s Welfare Center, where he was given the Chinese name He Dongxu. He spent a year at the center, on April 2008, Eliot and Francisco adopted Dongxu and took him to the U.S.

During the visit, Eliot and Francisco expressed their gratitude to Liang and Chen. They said Dongxu has brought them a lot of joy and happiness over the past seven years, and the visit and knowing how their son was found and how he spent his first year was very meaningful. When HERE! contacted Chen, she said she had no further comment.
