In the latest generation of Chinese entrepreneurship this magazine has reported that film studios have been sprouting up around the city and making profits from commercial and independent short films. One of the early adapters was 86 Studio. On November 2, they will self-release seven of their latest works during a film exhibition at the Dongcheng Cultural Center.
Yugo Mac began directing while in university, founding the studio five years ago. Recently, he turned his hobby into sole profession, leaving behind a career and master’s degree in medicine. The seven samples will show wide variation in topics like time travelling and gangsters, and employ styles such as suspense, comedy and thriller.
